A pioneer in smart building technology since 1981, Alerton delivers intuitive, powerful automation to facilities of any size — with native BACnet from the controller to the front end. Salmon Mechanical is a factory-certified Alerton contractor serving Utah's Wasatch Front.
Alerton has been building automation and management solutions since 1981 and is now part of Honeywell Building Technologies. The brand's guiding idea is that you shouldn't have to trade one building priority for another — occupant safety, occupant comfort, and energy efficiency should all improve together. Alerton systems scale from a single building to an entire campus or portfolio, which is why they show up so often in schools, offices, hospitals, and data centers.
As a factory-certified Alerton contractor, Salmon Mechanical is authorized to design, install, integrate, and service the full Alerton line — and because Alerton is built on open BACnet and is Niagara compatible, it drops cleanly into mixed-vendor buildings instead of locking you into one supplier.
Alerton's controller range is engineered to maximize safety, comfort, and energy efficiency in any building type. The VisualLogic IP (VIP) controller is a BACnet Advanced Application Controller (B-AAC) with a 32-bit processor, high-resolution 16-bit universal inputs and outputs, and an onboard real-time clock — enough headroom for the complex calculations demanding building sequences require. Controllers communicate over BACnet/Ethernet, BACnet/IPv4, and BACnet/IPv6, with Network Time Protocol (NTPv4) support for accurate system-wide time.
A comprehensive range of edge devices — sensors, actuators, and unitary and zone controllers — provides the precision and flexibility to control equipment right where it lives, from VAV boxes to rooftop units.
The backbone of the Ascent product line is the Ascent Control Module (ACM), which combines Alerton's BACnet capability with the flexibility of the Tridium Niagara Framework®. That matters in practice: an Alerton front end can supervise third-party equipment through Niagara drivers rather than forcing a rip-and-replace.
Compass is Alerton's operator software, providing customizable navigation, data visualization, and interactive interfaces for monitoring, controlling, and managing facility systems. Facility teams use it to identify and resolve environmental issues, find efficiency gains, and simplify scheduling and occupancy management.
All Alerton control logic is written in VisualLogic, Alerton's graphical programming language. Sequences are readable, which means a future technician — ours or anyone else's — can open your building's logic and understand what it does. That is a meaningful long-term ownership advantage over systems programmed in opaque, proprietary code.
Alerton sells exclusively through a global network of independent authorized dealers and system integrators, who handle design, engineering, implementation, and ongoing service. That network is the only way to buy and support the product properly — and Salmon Mechanical is in it. Alerton also maintains a full end-user training catalog (online, virtual instructor-led, and classroom), and we can arrange training so your facility staff actually own the system rather than calling us for every schedule change.
Because we are also a full-scope mechanical contractor, we can deliver the equipment, ductwork, piping, controls, and commissioning under one contract. Fewer handoffs, tighter accountability, and a building that runs the way it was designed to.
